Care Instructions

Grimm’s stands for quality and longevity. When making Grimms toys, the wood is selected carefully without defects. At each step, the quality of the wood is checked. But wood lives and responds to air changes. Wood is a natural product and not indestructible, so we can not rule out that something could break. If something breaks, you can repair the piece with wood glue.

If you want to remove dirt from the products,

  1. Simply wipe with a damp cloth and some soapy water (if necessary).
  2. When drying, please do not place on the heater, otherwise cracks may occur in the wood, but allow to dry at room temperature.
  3. Please never clean our products with disinfectant, hot water or similar.

Safety

  • Children may be advised and prompted to use caution with their special toys.
  • All products are tested regularly and comply with the European Toy Safety Standard (EN 71) and US standards.
About Grimm's Toys

Unique Markings: We love wood because it is a natural material so it always has various markings that show up in our products. The unique variations are proof of quality, not defects. For example, dark spots on the rainbow are caused by mineral deposits. This means that if the tree had grown further, a branch would have developed at this point. Black stripes are also something completely natural. This is the pith tube or "heart of the tree". It differs from the surrounding wood by the darker colour and structure. When working on the wood, it can become completely or partially visible. This feature is part of the natural appearance of the wood. Therefore, these are not defects for us, but quality features of a natural product and as such are desired and welcomed by us. We love this uniqueness of wood!

Painted By Hand: All rainbow friends and decorative figures are hand-painted and decorated in the most loving detail. In assembly and packaging, we work in part with workshops for adults with special needs in Germany.

Colours: The bright colour glaze and plant oils preserve the living surface of the wood in structure and feel. The result is a rough and yet velvety wooden surface, which contributes to a greater play value, because the individual pieces do not slip off so easily. We use glazing colours and vegetable oil for our products. Our colours are water-based, non-toxic and saliva-fast. Of course, all colours and oils are certified according to the European toy safety standard (EN 71).
